Senior Entomologist


Kochelani is an enthusiastic public health entomologist. His research interest is in understanding the biology and ecology of major mosquito vectors with special emphasis on disease interactions focusing on malaria transmission and other neglected tropical diseases. He is also interested in new malaria vector-control interventions and investigating insecticide resistance profiles in Zambia and its consequences on malaria disease epidemiology and disease vector control.


Kochelani holds a Master of Science degree in Entomology from the University of Zambia and is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Health with the University of Pretoria.

 

In addition to malaria research, Kochelani shares his time in various activities as a member of the Entomological Society Zambia (ESZ), Global Health Corps (GHC) alumni, and Zambia Association of Biological Scientists (ZABSci). In his spare time, Kochelani loves jogging, playing volleyball and football. He is an ardent Mighty Mufulira Wanderers and Liverpool FC supporter. Kochelani speaks three languages fluently and is well-travelled through many parts of Zambia.
