VZNIGHT – (Vanderbilt-Zambia Network For Innovation in Global Health Technologies)

This grant was awarded in late 2012 to Vanderbilt after a successful effort at writing a grant application together in November 2011. The project involves scientists chosen from the US and Zambia working together alternatively in Nashville and at Macha, to develop a new way to diagnose malaria that will be more sensitive and feasible for use at the community level. The first two US and Zambian scientists spent time at Macha during 2014 and it is anticipated that two additional scientists will spend longer periods of time at Macha in 2015.
